Hilltop Florist and Greenhouse is Striving to be Environmentally Green in Many Ways!
Bio Pots: These pots are made from bamboo fiber which is a pure, natural and non-toxic substance. These pots are biodegradable and pollution free.
Rice Hull Pots: Made of renewable resources, these pots will biodegrade in the soil over time. We use these pots for many of our annuals and perennials.
Bark Baskets: These baskets are made up of a bark composite material that is combined with an environmentally safe gluten that works as a binder. The baskets will biodegrade in aprox. 2-3 years. We like to use these pots for our fall mums, hanging baskets, mixed baskets, spruce tops and many more.
Spray Irrigation: We use a spray irrigation system in our greenhouses to conserve water.
Compost: We have our own compost pile on site. It provides our customers with our own Proffesionally Blended Soil.
Internal Recyling: Paper, cardboard, newspaper and vases are some of the items we recycle here at Hilltop Florist. We also reuse and recyle wood pallets.
Energy Effecient Lighting: We recently switched out our old lighting to energy effecient lighting in our retail area.
Homegrown: Many of flowers that you see at Hilltop Florist are grown right here in our greenhouse. 42, 000 square feet of greenhouse is dedicated to growning roses, mums, calla lilies, stephanotis, freesia, iris, poinsettias, green and blooming plants and much more! 10, 000 square feet of greenhouse is dedicated to growing our annuals and perennials.
